Airy Interior Design

By Brittany Caitlin

Intelligent interior design planning is very important in homes, especially in smaller apartments or condominiums, where space is at a premium. It is especially important to realize that your home can quickly look dark and cramped if you don't pay attention to the decorations and furniture you add into your home.

Your goal in small spaces is to visually make your belongings appear like they are blocking as little light as possible. This promotes an almost subconscious reaction of calmness and the feeling that you are not "blocked" from seeing anything in the room.

When you pick out furniture for your tiny home, you should focus on these key details:

1) Furniture should be as light-colored and made of natural materials when at all possible.

2) Stay away from solid, clunky, box-shaped furniture pieces like rectangle coffee tables and nightstands.

3) Use transparent material when at all possible, whether it be translucent lampshades for lighting or clear glass coffee table tops.

Your goal should be to make the room as open-seeming and as clear as possible. You will be shocked at the difference a well-designed, well-thought out room will be when you follow these steps above.
