Tension Engagement Rings
Tension rings are the new trend in classy but modern engagement rings. Instead of a clasp or prong holding your gem in place, the sheer tension of the ring's band holds the stone steady. This is a great way to avoid the boring, traditional ring and also to showcase your individuality. For a further twist, use a gem that means something to you and your fiance, and not just the traditional diamond ring. Because the rings are held under great tension, however, it is important that the stone of your choosing is hard enough to withstand the constant pressure and not snap or break under the tension. If you insist on your softer stone, a jeweler can place hidden clasps and prongs under and to the side of the stone so that some of the pressure is alleviated, and you can enjoy a faux-tension look. Tension rings that are already offered for sale in certain styles will only need to be picked according to the size of your ring finger. Prices will be somewhere around $800. Yet prices can get steep very quickly if you want to choose your own stone also, because jewelers must adjust the tension levels for each different type of stone, as well as adjusting your ring size for each individual hand. Make sure your tension ring fits you perfectly, because, due to the physics of a tension ring, you will never be able to get the ring resized without destroying the band. Pay for quality and a perfect fit initially, and you will have a lifetime of enjoyment from your perfect tension ring! |
